Gila Farm Cooperative
The Gila Farm Cooperative is great organization of refugee farmers that have resettled in Central Arizona, leaving behind countries torn by war, oppression, political upheaval, and natural disaster to pursue a new life. The farmers hail from Bhutan, Burma, Congo, Cuba, Eritrea, Iraq, Liberia, Sudan, Somalia, Togo, and Uzbekistan; bringing with them decades of experience working with the land and growing diverse crops.
Gila Farm Cooperative sells produce at the farmers market at the Phoenix Public Market, and also runs a CSA program so you can pick up fresh produce weekly. Check out their website to read more about the cooperative and the farmers.
